Education throughout the years

MS word has been used for a lot of my upper elementary education until in middle school I was shown google docs. I have never been a fan of having to save every word document I make to a drive or loosing it because I forgot to do it or I save it to a certain computer and I can’t remember which one. These are all true stories when it comes to my time working with word. Since middle school and up until present day I have used google docs. I just find it so much more convenient that it automatically saves everything for me and I can access it no mater what device I am on.

A leader. The standard that means the most to me. I believe that’s being a leader can help inspire children to do many things. This could be something simple like being kind to others or something like building confidence. I believe being a leader can be standing for things you believe in like in the classroom advocating for equality for all students and doing the right thing. This standard is important for the k-12 system because building leaders helps build the other characteristics that are in the standards for educators. Leadership helps build citizens by being an example for your students and being a good citizen. You can be a leader and show others how to work in collaboration. So the skill can be used to adapt many education standards.

When it comes to digital natives and digital immigrants I believe they do exist. Being a digital native is having grown up around social media and technology in general. I myself am a digital native so I watch the digital immigrant teachers struggle at some things while other digital immigrants teachers struggle at the smallest things. Some things the teachers struggle with is some basic computer skills like how to work the projector and the computer and make sure they are connected correctly. I believe it will be very different when I have my own students because they will know technology since they grew up with it from birth. I think it will be hard to take a break from the technology even as a teacher because the students will be surrounded by it.

  1. Hi Avery!
I can also relate to using mainly MS Word throughout my lower education, but I switched to Google Docs in my high school years because that's what my teachers have always preferred us to use becuase of the feature of saving automatically as I write, something you mentioned in your blog.I agree and take the same viewpoint as you when you stated your view of the digital native. As I too, would consider myself a digital native, as I did grow up with technology.
